Virtual reality and simulation in medicine
The Foundation is investigating the possible incorporation of these technologies in the academic training of the student and in the distraction of patients undergoing treatment, as well as other possibilities.
The Foundation is investigating the possibility of incorporating Virtual Reality technology for patients who require intravenous treatment and spend several hours in the Hospital de Dia. For this reason, a virtual reality helmet was acquired and a project led by Gustavo Del Fabbro is being developed to evaluate its usefulness.
Through this technology, specialized psychological support is possible for each particular case, directing the material to the problems presented by each patient.
Examples of cases would be patients on dialysis, on cancer treatment, intravenous antibiotic therapy, blood transfusions, surgical recovery, etc. etc.
Psychological consultation is the best means of audiovisual support for each individual under treatment and to improve the quality of recovery and results.
